Hunting Traditional Woven in JCC

If you are a fan of batik and weaving, then don't miss the chance to hunt various products and clothing from batik and looms in Adiwastra Indonesia 2012.  In this exhibition, you can find various traditional woven from all region in
Indonesia.

The exhibition which has entered the fifth year was housed at Jakarta Convention Center (JCC). In the Hall A and B Balai Sidang Jakarta. There are more than 200 exhibitors featuring various fabrics and fashion products using traditional fabrics such as batik, looms, embroidery, songket, jumputan, and so on.

In addition to shopping, you can get to know the diversity of creation and weaving of batik in Indonesia. You will not only find batik from batik center cities such as Yogyakarta, Semarang, Solo, and Pekalongan. However you can find batik from Cirebon, Tasikmalaya, West Java or West Sumatra.

You can also buy woven and looms belt. There are from Bima (Nusa Tenggara Barat), Bali, Halmahera Utara (North Maluku), up to typical Ulos from North Sumatra, Garut, and Baduy looms. All with the distinctive character of each as well as various techniques.




Curious with how to making looms? You can drop in to the exhibition in Hall A. There you will meet Alfonsa Horeng, weaver woman who also touted as a directory of ardent defender of Flores looms.
"If Flores looms, the body acts, not only the feet and hands, but also the entire body. Unlike other looms," said Alfonsa while visualizing how to weave Flores looms.

Alfonsa said Flores looms not just handy craft but a culture. He tells people of Flores using woven from birth until death. So it became a part of the tradition. In addition, each region in Flores have different motives.

"The underlying motives of each area in Flores. We cannot wear a vassal with the motives of village A, but the tops of the village B. If motives wearing from village A, on the way we'll be saluted with the language of that village A," she explained.

Don't also miss the chance to see a collection of nusantara fabric from Museum Tekstil Jakarta. Collection of fabrics belonging to Hartono Sumarsono from different regions of Indonesia as well as you can see in Adiwastra Indonesia 2012.
You can also see batik motives of American cowboys until the American bison. Curious? Just stop by to the JCC that taking place until 19 February 2012. The entrance ticket visitors of Rp 10,000.
