Intercity Train No Smoking From 1 March

This is either good news or bad for user of intercity rail services. Starting March 1, 2012 release, PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (PT. KAI) will impose a ban on smoking in the intercity railway carriage, either the executive class, business and the economy.

"This policy will be applied from 1 February 2012 and this month until 29 February 2012 will be put in place its socialization," said the Head of Regulating PT KAI DAOPS 1, Akhmad Sujadi told the reporters in Jakarta, Wednesday (1/2/2012).

He added if there are passengers who get caught smoking in trains, will be undloaded in a nearby station." After the date 29 February, anyway the smoker inside the train will be unloaded down from the train," he asserted.

The ban applied because it gets a lot of reports about disorder behaviour by the smokers inside the train. In addition many facilities inside the train destroyed due to many passengers disposed the cigarette butts carelessly.

"Generally, Smokers disorderly throw the cigarette butts, making black spots in the train's carpets like burned. The paint inside the train also quickly faded by cigarette smoke," said Sujadi.

While, in the intercity rail users themselves, the plan still gives pros and cons. As revealed by Dinda (24) who each year using the Argo Anggrek railway transport services to her home in Sidoarjo, East Java."  It doesnt matter for me 'cause i'm not smoking, just considering how about the smokers. Pity for who had asthma disease, could coughing inside," she said.

Saphira (21) who also almost every month using the railway sevices Jakarta-Semarang to prohibition. "because I smoke, so less agree to it, because I do not smoke in the passenger, but the connection of existing carriage near the toilet so passengers are not too bothered,".
