Dewaruci Arrived in New Orleans





Kapal Republik Indonesia/ KRI (Indonesia's Ship) Dewaruci in its cross-continent-
sailing have been arrived in New Orleans, USA. Welcome ceremony of KRI Dewaruci attended by General Comission of US and other officials. Various events were held until next sunday.

In last January 14, 2012, Dewaruci departed from Port of Koarmatim Ujung Surabaya in order to promote culture attraction and another Indonesia's culture destinations. The route that have been traveled accross 4 continents. In Tuesday (17/04/2012) Dewaruci arrived in New Orleans.



Quoted from official site of Indonesian tourism, indonesia.travel, Thursday (19/04/2012), the crews which lead by Lettu Laut Alfredo Purba which worn traditional clothing. They welcomed by Comissioner General of US, Al Busro Basnur.





The officials and invitations entered Dewaruci ship with accompaniment Rantak Dance from Minangkabau. The visitors so enthusiast for seeing the ship. Though hard rained, they still excited when taking some pictures with the ship's crew.

The welcom ceremony also covered by several local television. The presence of KRI Dewaruci in New Orleans will encored by various events in next Sunday (22/04). Among of them Open Ship, art show, reception of French Navy in Germinal also cocktail party.



In addition to promote culture and tourism destinations in Indonesia, this sailing also for Operation Sail 2012 in USA, to commemorate 200th Anniversary of the War.

After New Orleans, KRI Dewaruci planned will layover in some cities in US like Miami, Charleston, New York, Norfolk, Baltimore and Boston. After that, this ship will stop again in some coutries like Canada, Portugal, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Sri Lanka until back in Indonesia.

KRI Dewaruci is the only one sailing ship in Indonesia which still able wade through the sea. Two of three ships, which still one generation with Dewaruci, has been out of duty. One sank in the sea, one again in museum.
