Tourist From Japan Decreased 50%

Amount of tourist form Japan which usually dominated the Bali visit keep decreasing since 2008 until now. Whereas, Bali tour worker asses that Japanese visitors are more profitable
than other country.


"There's so many cause, lika global crisis and effect of last  year's earthquake and tsunami in Japan." said The Head of  Bali Tourism Departement, Ida Bagus Kade Subhiksu, Wednesday (4/4/2012), in Denpasar. Japanese tourist prefer to choose the other country which relatively close and cheap, like China and Thailand.
Based on data from Central Bureau of Statistics in Bali, the amount of Japanese tourist in 2008 as much as 359.824 persons, and then 'only' 333.905 in 2009, then 245.212 in 2010 and 182.385 in 2011. Thereby since 2008 until this year, happened a decline number of tourist from Japan for about 50%

Whereas, before 2008, Japan always on the top position for the amount of foreign tourist in Bali. Since decrease in the number, Bali dominated by the tourist from Australia and China. For period January to February 2012, Australian tourist in Bali are 119.054 peoples and Chinese thourist are 82.705, but for Japan only 28.659

Dwi Nurdayati, the owner of travel agent PT. Bali Indah Cahaya Tour and Travel, deeply regrets about this because to serving Japanese tourist is very advantegous in terms of busines. First, Japanese tourist is very discipline and responsible in touring package bill payment. The second, they like to spend their money for vacation, this is so profitale for travel agent and craftsman.



To keep their (Japanese tourist) trust, said Dwi, the key is as a tourism people, we have to prioritize the professional services. "Tourist from Japan are known very sensitive. If they didn't get the satisfying service, they're usualy ask for they money back." said her.



Subhiksu said that Bali Province Government tried to increase the visitors from Japan with joining the promotion through international tourism exhibition in Tokyo Japan in next September 2012. Bali government cooperating with Garuda Indonesia airlines.


The chairman of Gabungan Industri Pariwisata Indonesia (Indonesia's Tourism Industry Association) in Bali, Ida Bagus Ngurah Wijaya ask the tourism of Bali to be addressed. "Government have to make a market. Today, tourism promotions are more depending on Japan tour agent so they are the man in charge.".
