It often used for source in various sport events in Indonesa, indeed a form of geological phenomena of natural gas. This natural gas out from the land surface then lit by a fire. That is the cause which makes the fire never get off though hard rained.
In addition as a source of sports events, Api Abadi Merapen also used to support Waisak, feast of Buddhanese. The representative monks from various sangha, take Api Abadi Merapen. From grobogan, the holy fire taken to Borobudur temple which become the sacred place for Waisak day in Indonesia.

In additon Batu Bobot, in the location Api Abadi Merapen also lies a little ponds which known as Sendang Dudo. This ponds contains green water which its bubles in the middle. Though looks like boiling, but its not hot because it comes from underground gasses.
The gas exploison or the water bubles is flamable. Maybe the gasses also the same gas which came out in Api Abadi Merapen. From the research result, its proofed that water in Sendang Dudo contains so many minerals, from calcium until magnesium.
