Onno Invites College Students to Recognize OpenBTS


Jakarta - A number of practitioners of information technology (IT) in Indonesia is vigorous to introducing a new technology Open Base Transceiver Station, or abbreviated OpenBTS. How to assemble and function of this technology will be disseminated for the benefit of education.

Onno W. Purbo, an IT practitioner with Information and Communication Technology Watch (ICT Watch) Indonesia, committed to make OpenBTS as educational tools in telecommunication field. Because with OpenBTS, user can make phone calls and send text message for free of charge.

"Students who are in their final task, and who interested in studying the OpenBTS, could do a study on ICT Watch," said Onno, here on Thursday (7/1/2012).

Students don't have to pay dearly to learn OpenBTS, because Onno and ICT Watch will share their knowledge for free. ICT Watch will provide OpenBTS peripheral, the students can just bring their laptop or computer to interconnected to it.

Beginning in 2012, will be the arrival for some OpenBTS devices in ICTS Watch. Two of them use for the benefit of education.

In addition to Onno and ICT Watch, Yayasan Air Putih also introduced vigorously the OpenBTS to society. OpenBTS peripheral belongs to Yayasan Air Putih, have roamed into several region of Indonesia, because it's often bring by Onno to introduce OpenBTS technology.
