A number of chinese citizens to prepare dishes and bowls to celebrate Cap Go Meh in Chinatown of Semarang, Central Java, Monday (6/12/2012).
Cap Go Meh is a tradition celebrated 15 days after Chinese new year with eating together, as hundreds of children from free school of Kuncup Melati elemantary school.
Dozens of Kuncup Melati elementary school queued patiently waiting for the yellow coconut milk gravy that poured into a dish that containing lontong (rice) and chopped chicken. Cap Go Meh tradition that has been done in walled for hundreds of years creates a cultural culinary acculturation.
Through the lontong Cap Go Meh, this community tradition of China adapted to the surrounding environment. Chinese citizens will serve the typical food, lontong with chicken curry, eggs, and pumpkin vegetable or eggplant. Lontong Cap Go Meh also sprinkled soybean powder.
The secretary of Ci Lam Tjay Foundation, Widiani, that invited the elemantary school children to celebrate Cap Go Meh, said that this tradition has been almost entirely adopted the Indonesian cultures. "Lontong Cap Go Meh is a culinary combination of Indonesia and China," said Widiani.
Lontong Cap Go Meh is also the typical culinary from Semarang which have been presented regularly in the ordinary restaurant menu. Like Yongki Tio's restaurant in Semarang, a historical and cultural observers that raised the unique and typical culinary.
