Hundreds of Houses in Kepulauan Seribu Have Not Been Repaired



Puting beliung (storm disaster) that hit several islands in the Kepulauan Seribu (Thousand Islands), causing damage to residential areas. Based on Kompas.com monitoring, Sunday (5/2/2012), Kelapa island and Harapan island, there are still hundreds of houses were damaged and have not been repaired.

Whereas, today has been embarked on the tenth day after the disaster. Puting beliung strucked the thousand islands region, on Wednesday (25/1/2012) and the territory of Indonesia hit by extreme weather due to the effects of tropical storms in the waters of the Indian Ocean.

Atok Baroni Hidayat, chief on norhtern Kepulauan Seribu said until today, it has been listed against hundreds of victim's houses and have report it to the local governments. Residents whose homes were damaged were forced to flee in neighbor's house or other relatives.
"We've been doing on logging and exposure in front of the Governor, He said the help would arrive shortly. "he said.

According to data of the  subdistrict northern Kepulauan Seribu in Kelapa island, there are 149 house in minor damage, 106 in medium damage, while 280 heavily damage. Category minor damage is a home that only lost its roof shingles and can still be livable, while for medium to heavy damage is for which no longer has a roof and flat to the ground.

One example is Sapina (45). The Harapan island citizens must evacuated because her house was flattened to the ground. She hoped the Government could rebuild her house that currently occupied by other six family members.
