Indonesia, Not Malaysia
It's wrong assumption if it says Indonesia is a nation that one clump with Malaysia. Indonesia is more powerful and diverse than
Malaysia.
"What clump? In the field of family and culture, Malaysia is have no relation at all with the culture of Papua, Flores and other cultures that exists in Indonesia.
Indonesia, great and diverse! "said the historian Dr. Anhar Gonggong, in the Seminar "Cross Cultural Fertilization: a Cultural Strategy" which takes place at Paramadina University in Jakarta, Tuesday (28/2/2012).
Featured as a keynote speaker Professor of History Prof Taufik Abdullah, Deputy leader Kompas St. Sulartom and historian Nirwan Arsuka.
According to Anhar, Indonesia do not want to be humbled by any nation with the lure of a close friend, allied nations and so forth, but at the back degrading Indonesian as Indon.
"Remember, Indonesia in its history while still in the power of Srivijaya and Majapahit, its s very broad and covers some neighbouring countries so called Nusantara," said Anhar.
The term of 'Indonesia', said Anhar, is the result of a genius mind from the founding fathers of the nation's, who have forward vision to unite the tribes, language and culture which very diverse.
"If it's called one clump, synonymously with Malay, whereas ethnic groups, languages and cultures of other tribes being forgotten," said Anhar.
Scholars Harry Tjan Silalahi said if Indonesia and Malaysia considered as one clump, so the other cultures outside of the Malays perceived nothing. "This view is misguided and dangerous," he said.
