Indonesia Poor of Cultural Readings



Jakarta - Education expert Prof. Dr.  Arief Rachman, MPd. rate that Indonesia lack of reading material for children with culture.
"We are poor of cultural readings, most current children reading are technology and the globalized world," says Professor of Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) in the launching of
english comic serial for children, The Tale of Cobbleheart Didgit in Jakarta, Wednesday (15/2/2012).

Arief said the lack of reading materials that could give information about the nation's cultural roots can cause a crisis of culture.
"In our nation's culture, owned distinct value of wisdom that should  be stabilised and become a global culture filter," said him.


Readings which containing cultural values will stick in character of children until they mature later. "Character is good values, that are in threatened state will still survive, imagine if the children today never knew the kindness," he said.

Even so, Arief never advocate attitudes of antipathy because after all, according to him, the world has been transformed more globally.

"In addition to reading which raising the nation's culture, cross-cultural education also important for children, to know the difference and how to handle it well. God never makes us the same, so don't antipathy towards culture from outside," he said.
