Agree, Dangdut registered to UNESCO?

Menteri Koordinator Kesejahteraan Rakyat (Coordinating Minister of People's Welfare) Agung Laksono approves proposal of dangdut music registered to get UNESCO recognition as Indonesian art.

"We are agree. Any form requirements that were determined have to be fulfilled. The Government is ready to go," said Agung Laksono on the opening of the Persatuan Artis Musik Melayu-Dangdut Indonesia (PAMMI) national congress in Surabaya, Saturday (3/3/2012).

According to him, UNESCO is an international which have a clear rules, so that the proposal should be prepared well. His party is optimistic because dangdut assessed only by Indonesia which is not belonging to other nations. Dangdut artists recommended to undertook consultations with stakeholders, among of them the Ministry of Culture & Education, Youth Ministry and the Ministry of People's Welfare.



"As reinforcement of existence, this music to be recognized wide world. Not only have an impact for the artists, but Indonesian also feel the additional positive effecs, among other elements of the economy or trading," said the ex-chairman of the house of reprsentatives.

However, the current rate that all the people in this country or abroad has already admitted that dangdut belongs to Indonesia. Meanwhile, responding to the dangdut music circulation in Indonesia right now, Agung Laksono disclose his concerns with rampant piracy in Indonesia's music industries.

"Current target is a dangdut music. Many pieces of pirated cassettes or CD's of dangdut music. This has to be prevented and should not happen," said the politician.
