Ubud, "The Next Icon of Bali"



Bali is not only Kuta and beautiful beaches. However, Bali has other attractions, like the powerful  culture. One of them is Ubud which have long been offering
cultural tours for tourists.

"Ubud is going to be the next icon of Bali. This is our vision," says chief of Ubud Hotels Association (UHA), Heri Sumawan on the opening of Ubud Domestic Agent Table Top held by UHA in the Museum Puri Lukisan, Ubud, Gianyar, Bali, Thursday (1/3/2012).

Heri said that the leading tourism products are natively is culture. Unlike modernity tourism, cultural tourism will not change, but rather entrenched in the middle of the local community.
"Unlike modern tourism, such as night life, it follows the trend. If you did not follow the trend, it could be discharged," he said again.



The same things were also disclosed by regent of Gianyar, Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati. He said that the context of Bali tourism is culture.

"Ubud belong to Gianyar regency, Gianyar is a cultural center of Bali. I dare say that Gianyar is the cultural centre of Bali as we see from the history and civilization of Bali, Ubud have been recorded since the 9th century," said Tjokorda.

He added that the area of Ubud has evolved into a tourism since 1930. At that time, the people of Europe promoting Ubud to the world through the artwork featuring the life and culture of Ubud. So one might say, the start of Bali tourism promotion is through cultural tourism.

Recently, Ubud crowned as the best city in Asia by Conde Nast Traveller reader's choice 2009 version. Ubud is also increasingly popular as shooting background of the movie Eat, Pray and Love in 2010.
